Design Thinking in Action
This multi-session program offers an introduction to Design Thinking methodology, along with a more involved chance to put it in practice over several months. From the first step of Empathy to the last of Implementation, this five-step process offers a coordinated and purposeful approach to problem solving, designing products and systems, and much more. Now formally taught at the d. School at Stanford and other d. school programs across the globe, Design Thinking is practiced by many of the most successful companies in the world.
Methodology: Participants in this program will engage with the Design Thinking process via an internal challenge provided by their organization in cooperation with PLC. As with all PLC workshops, this one will involve lively discussions and interactive exercises as we explore the first four of the five steps of Design Thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, and Prototype. A workbook (and potentially other ancillary materials) will be utilized for this workshop.
Process: The program is divided into six parts:
-
Introduction to Design Thinking Methodology
-
Deep Dive into Empathy and Definition
-
Ideation and Solutions
-
Prototyping Exercises
-
Storytelling and Presentation
-
Final Presentation
